Faith? Real or wishful thinking?
by kevin221 ina question for the masses.. is pure faith real, or just a tool the human psyche uses to justify life patterns or actions?
i'm having a hard time understanding how someone could have a secure belief system based 100 % on faith.
let me explain.

WOULD A JW KILL IN THE NAME OF GOD???
by minimus ini've heard different "apostates" say that witnesses are so brainwashed that they would kill, if ordered by the faithful slave.
do you believe this?

I'd like to qualify that
Who would argue the judgement? Why are the jws left in such a place of darkness. Is to believe that this life is all that others have, and yet take away from it, a crime that brings such a punishment?

Hope to see you keep posting Kevin, you're not alone. For some reason it seems that you've been picked to help put an end to it. We'll see what happens.

Sounds good Sid,
Faith in the fact that you are - and here you are - a good starter for faith in the future - fact is, you're usually still around the next day as well.
What happens if you walk on water?

Kevin,
I know where you're coming from. A jw family treated my own (and still do) so contemptably that I thought I was going crazy at first. I had never known such a thing in all my life. I too, thought at first that they were an odd christian sect. Now it seems I've been recruited to help put an end to them for all time. 'Wacked out' seems like a rather kind way to describe our attackers. It shocks me that women are involved also.

Try and imagine that there was no law or secular authority against killing, no punishment due on this earth - and that the secular authorities always acted as bystanders in such matters.
Then, think your answer again.

I believe that we should love our neighbour as our own self, and then some.
Could I be wrong?
But, in regard to
need to do to be saved by God. Your right, there's no correct answer - there's nothing that you can do - that's christianity.paduan

They already do kill - there are multiple examples of behaviour that causes very ill health to others - even involving their own children. Often they could care less whether or not it contributed to physical death - as usual they lie.
They would prefer to blame God, 'leave it to hohovah'. But it is an active contribution to another's death - an active engagement in killing. As for passive killing, they withold their worldly goods every day of the week.
All for god (tm).

ARE JW'S MORE HONEST THAN OTHERS?
by minimus inone thing that the witnesses promote is how they are different from the rest of the world.
in your personal experience , did you find that you could trust a witness more than you could a non-jw?

What is a christian
by A Paduan inin light of a recent thread by ozzie showing the wt reaffirming salvation by works, i wanted to put forward a post questioning what a christian is.
my own belief is that christianity is about kindness that marginalises the fears surrounding any self-cost (any, even spiritual - i believe that's a secret truth).
the belief in salvation by works is the belief in a trade - a buying and selling.

Willythink,
Perhaps Peter started to sink when he was in a way uncertain, didn't really 'believe' he could do it - so far, baptised with water, but not yet with the Holy Spirit.
I also see faith and works as one - and that works are a result of faith, the evidence of, or rather the witness to faith. Works simply being fruit that is growing on a tree.
And Aguest,
Well, I can follow that, but I don't think that darkness ever overpowers light. Maybe some mirrors are too smudgy or some lamps just run out of oil (gladness).
